Golden Sunset and the Back of the Tapestry

Here on the mountain, November days end in amazing sunsets with a wide range of colors. This one caused the sky and everything below to glow in an iridescent golden light.

The day had been long and tiring, creating more questions than answers. Watching the sunset across the mountains is usually a much-anticipated daily event, but with all that happened, I almost missed it. I walked by the window at the most golden moment, and stopped me in my tracks. Everything glowed: the few autumn leaves still clinging to the branches of trees, the fog settling in the valley, and the mist clinging to the distant mountain. It was all beautiful and good, bathed in the last light of the day.

During one of the last and least colorful days of autumn, a simple sunset made everything beautiful. This passage came to mind, and I was thankful for the reminder that His thoughts are not my thoughts, and I am still looking at the back of the tapestry - all threads and knots and loose ends that make no sense. I have to trust Him completely - with these days and moments, challenges and changes.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Isaiah 55:9
